What an honor to be invited into the best and worst days of the Deaf community! And, sometimes our mood about personal life, the content of the work, team dynamics or the parking situation can bleed into the quality of the interpretation and interpersonal interactions. Some interactions pass without consequence, yet others leave a mark. Ultimately, the Deaf person can be impacted in ways we may not even recognize.
So what do we do about it? Join me in a discussion of strategies for balancing life and honoring our work while respecting our clients and colleagues.
Educational Objectives:
- Identify 2 pain points that creep up or barrel into the interpreting process.
- Reflect on 3-5 reasons interpreting was the profession of choice and why it remains so.
- Discuss mindset shifting strategies to be utilized before, during and after an assignment.
- Commit to trying on one new strategy for reframing the mood to a mindset.
