How can one create classifiers for new concepts? The use and variety of classifiers
How can one create classifiers for new concepts? The use and variety of classifiers go beyond the standard ones taught in ASL curriculae. True fluency in ASL includes the ability to create and incorporate new classifiers that are syntactically correct, and the meaning of such classifiers clearly conveyed in context. Attendees will learn models for classifier creation opportunities and a greater use of classifier opportunities, through group discussion and immersive activities.
At the conclusion of this workshop, the participants will be able to:
1)List and explain the various models for classifier creation opportunities
2) Demonstrate ability to utilize a 3D/Visual linguistic style by accurately incorporating impromptu classifiers in a context that makes linguistic sense to the instructor and other participants.
3)To describe actions and objects without using standard ASL vocabulary or reliance on PSE.
