Meagan is a DeafBlind mentor passionate about supporting interpreters. She became a mentor to help current and future interpreters better understand DeafBlind consumers and their culture. Meagan holds a master’s degree in Adult Education and Curriculum Development as well as a bachelor’s degree in ASL Interpreting. This educational background gives her a unique perspective — she understands interpreting from both the interpreter and consumer viewpoints. Her knowledge of adult learning and DeafBlind experiences equips her to mentor others in ASL and DeafBlind-related topics.
Meagan is also on her own journey to become a Deaf Interpreter. She has successfully passed the written and ethics portions of CASLI’s exams and plans to complete the performance exam in the future.
Outside of her work as an educator and mentor, Meagan enjoys an active and creative lifestyle. She loves skiing and has even conquered several black diamond runs in Colorado and New Mexico. When it’s not ski season, she enjoys hiking, biking, riding her Onewheel, and indoor rock climbing. During the summer, when it’s too hot to be outdoors, Meagan enjoys relaxing and building LEGO creations. She looks forward to working with you!
