This workshop will discuss how to navigate through the land mines of interpreting with the use of profanity. We will see how to make appropriate context and register choices when voicing for Deaf clients or signing for the Hearing client. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of the ethics of cussing and its impact on interpreting dynamics. Demand-Control Schema will also be applied, and knowledge and practice will be utilized when learning how to manage a message with profanity. Intra- as well as interpersonal issues and effects will be reviewed and put into practice.
