You may have seen or heard about audiograms. You may have been told diagnosis about a person’s hearing loss. Or you may have observed different kinds of amplification or assistive devices being fit or used. So, what does all that mean? This workshop helps you understand the field of Audiology and will help you better prepare for your work as an interpreter in these settings.
Educational Objectives:
Understanding the fundamentals of the hearing process, hearing loss, etiologies, and audiograms/hearing assessments.
Apply those fundamental understanding to being able to interpret audiological related appointments or discussions.

Presenter Bio
Gloria Nathanson is a Certified Deaf Interpreter and an Educational Audiologist. She graduated from University of Minnesota with a self-directed B.A. in Language Development with Emphasis on those with Hearing Loss and from Gallaudet University with her doctorate in audiology. She has four children, two of whom are Deaf. She currently works at Minnesota State Academies as an audiologist and at St. Catherine University as professor in the ASL and Interpreting Department. She has frequently taught the subject of hearing and audiology through ASL and Deaf leans to professionals and the community.
