Presenter Bio
Katie Wangberg is a native ASL user; born profoundly Deaf. She grew up in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota and comes from a medical knowledgeable family. She has a B.S. in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota and M.S. in Education from Bemidji State University. She has 16 years of teaching high school American Sign Language. She has several years of Deaf mentoring experience and has CDI training. She is on the Governing Board for Minnesota State Academies where she graduated from. In her free time she enjoys camping, reading, traveling, and especially being with her two children, husband, and (a not very smart) dog.
Greetings, I’m Jessica (Jess) Provancha. I’ve been a professional ASL/English interpreter for about 14 years and have been in the medical field since I turned 18. I currently live and work mainly in rural southern Minnesota. My own interest in birth, pregnancy, and family health began with my own struggle to have children and journey to discovering why. This lead to forgiving out how to partner with the patient and/or partner to provide a better birth experience for others.
My immediate family includes my husband Michael and our three delightful daughters: Violet, Alice, and Hattie. When I’m not working or chauffeuring my children, I can be found running or biking the many trails around our town OR planning our next family adventure.
