Jon Shive, a native North Carolinian, holds a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University; his undergraduate work was in Special Education and minored in ASL Interpreting. He is the CEO of Shive Solutions, focusing on ASL Interpreting, mentoring and training. Formerly, Jon was a faculty member for 10 years at Georgia Perimeter College in their Interpreting Training Program and is currently a part-time instructor at Georgia State University. Jon has been teaching 29 years and interpreting for more than 38 years and is certified with RID (CI/CT) as well as EIPA: level 5.

He has been in membership with several affiliate chapters of RID – Georgia, North Carolina and Florida.

He is the co-author, of “Processing and Receiving Fingerspelling and Numbers” and “Processing Time: Developing the Interpreter Muscle”. His experiences have included educational, freelance, community, platform, medical/mental health, vacation and video relay interpreting and medical video remote interpreting.

He lives with his 3 hounds, a 7 year of pit bull, Ruckus, and her brother Rowdy, 4 year old, pure bred mutt, and now Rampage, lil brother, almost 1 year, but bigger than the other two. All of whom definitely keeping him busy.
