Event Details

This Independent Study allows interpreters who may be interested in legal interpreting to start considering how interpreting in legal settings may differ from interpreting in other settings. You will read 2 articles and then write a 1-page minimum paper. Questions are provided.

Educational Objectives:

1) Compare interpreter expectations for legal settings vs. non-legal settings.

2) Illustrate at least two examples of how to translate legal terminology from English into conceptually accurate ASL.

3) Self-analyze my willingness to interpret in legal settings.
