As in any profession, meaningful discussions about the work are essential to refining practice. Exposure to diverse perspectives broadens practitioners’ resources, while opportunities to reflect and problem-solve with colleagues expand the range of strategies available when challenges arise.

In our field, conversations often focus on consumers, settings, and language—factors external to the interpreter. While these are important, there is a pressing need to deepen our ability to talk about the work itself: how we approach it, and why we make the decisions and choices we do.

This workshop is designed to address that need. Together, we will examine how we talk about our work and develop a clearer understanding of the reasoning behind our decisions. Through guided activities and collegial dialogue, participants will gain practical tools to identify what may be missing from our current professional discourse—and how to strengthen it.
