Educational Objective:
1. Identify the different types of human trafficking and understand how they specifically impact Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.
2. Increase awareness of risk factors, warning signs, and common vulnerabilities within the Deaf community.
3. Review key state and federal legislation related to human trafficking, including how these laws protect victims and guide professionals.
4. Learn about available resources and services in Minnesota and nationally that support Deaf and Hard of Hearing survivors.
5. Develop practical strategies for taking action, including how to respond safely, report concerns, and support individuals who may be at risk or in need of help.

Presenter Bio
Sarah Houge received a M.A. in International Development from Gallaudet University and a Master of Education in Special (Deaf) Education from the University of Minnesota. She has extensive experience as a consultant and trainer for deaf schools and associations, nonprofit organizations and communication services both locally and abroad. Following years of field experience with foreign languages, International Sign and interpretation, Sarah became a RID Certified Deaf Interpreter. She provides training/mentoring and interprets in a variety of legal and social services settings.
